Join Rusalka UNF

Throughout the year, Rusalka dancers will provide feedback and inspiration to students in their regular classes, enriching their understanding of Ukrainian dance. Students will also have chances to perform at city festivals and beyond.

Launched in 2020, this initiative strengthens the bond between dancers of Rusalka UNF School of Dance and Rusalka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. This collaboration has inspired our dancers and strengthened our dance community.

We are pleased to introduce an updated and evolving dance syllabus designed to support student progression through the school, developed under the guidance of our artistic advisors, Masha and Dima Bodyan, in collaboration with our administration and faculty.

Dancers of select classes can join technique and choreography workshops, enhancing their weekly training at Rusalka UNF. This initiative offers a chance to learn from professional instructors and choreographers, enriching their dance education.

An introductory class for your child's first steps on the dance floor. Through Ukrainian-inspired dance, songs, and games, we nurture imagination and motor skills. Parents join in for this special shared experience.

Dancers develop coordination, rhythm, and spatial awareness through general kinetic movement. Students are introduced to basic formations and stage awareness.

Students learn foundational ballet exercises and rhythm patterns, with an emphasis on spacing, formation transitions, and character portrayal. Community performance opportunities may arise.

Dancers build on Beginner-level skills through fun, exciting repertoire spanning multiple Ukrainian regions, with opportunities for community performances and festivals.

Students are introduced to Ukrainian dance in a warm, encouraging environment while building essential technique, coordination, musicality, and confidence at a comfortable pace.

Dancers who demonstrate readiness may move into an appropriate level within the first six weeks. Those who remain will continue to develop throughout the year and participate in the year-end recital and selected performances.

Led by Dmytro Bodyan, this class teaches traditional Ukrainian dance steps, solos, tricks, and character work to build strength, confidence, and a deep connection to Ukrainian culture.

Led by Mariia Bodyan, this program complements core dance training through classical and character barre technique, center work, and Ukrainian dance lexicon and regional études.
