Junior Rusalka. Premier Ensemble at Rusalka UNF

Junior Rusalka is a youth Ukrainian dance training program operated by Rusalka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble in Winnipeg. It’s designed for dancers aged approximately 13–17 who show passion, dedication, and potential for performance at a pre-professional level.

Junior Rusalka typically welcomes dancers in their early to mid-teens, often between the ages of 13 and 16. Admission is based on skill level, enthusiasm, and readiness for a more intensive dance commitment.

While prior Ukrainian dance experience is encouraged, it’s not mandatory. We look for strong foundational technique, performance skills, and the right attitude for working in a focused, team-driven environment.

Junior Rusalka bridges the gap between the school program and the main performing ensemble. Dancers attend regular rehearsals, receive more advanced training, and occasionally perform at Rusalka events. It serves as a developmental path toward joining the full ensemble.

Rehearsals are held weekly, with additional sessions closer to performances. Dancers are expected to maintain strong attendance and come prepared to learn and grow.

Yes, Junior Rusalka dancers perform throughout the year at select events, festivals, and showcases, representing the spirit and energy of Ukrainian dance in Winnipeg.
